What is Mentoring?

Mentoring compared to coaching

Mentoring, while having similarities to coaching, is fundamentally different. A mentor has experience in a particular field and discusses specific knowledge, leading as advisor, counselor or guide.

In coaching, the coach is not to advise but to assist coachees in uncovering their own knowledge and skills. Coaches are to facilitate coachees in becoming their own advisers.

At SPEROVA, we are aware of these blurring of coaching and mentoring. Our believe is the best road to effective change is through the disciplines of coaching. We will ask for the coachees permission if the need arises to move into a mentoring role.
